Heya, Thought I'd better post something on my sorely neglected site. From the title, you may have guessed Kiwiwriter's Southern Cross Novel Challenge (SocNoc) is in full swing, in fact it's almost over. Much like when I did Nanowrimo last year, the goal is to write 50,000 words of a novel in one month. The only difference is, this time I'm on the team that's running the site and the challenge, and we're holding the competition now because we wanted to be able to do it in a month where the sun isn't shining outside and it's easy to justify spending hours tapping away in front of a computer with the fan heater on wrapped in a blanket.
Unfortunately real life doesn't stop, not even for SocNoc, and the postgrad study continues to add a stimulating but stressful burden upon my life. With the first two major assignments out of the way for my acute care paper, my thoughts are now turning to my portfolio, with 22 objectives to complete there's craploads of work to be done and so far I'm being really really good at procrastinating about it! I need a bomb under me or something.
So in the name of procrastination I have now written 35,000 words towards my novel, which I am really enjoying this year because I have stuck to my niche of fantasy rather than try and do something intelligent like I attempted for nano last year (but got so bored with it half way through that it ended up morphing into a fantasy anyway, which ended up making for a totally stupid plot). nine days left and 15,000 words to go. I think I can make it! Wish me luck!

Good luck angellic. 15k in 9 days isn't too bad - I think you've done most of the hard work getting to this point.
Glad you're still on track with your assignments too :-)

Bah! I think you did 15k in 2 days for Nano - you can do this easy, especially if you're enjoying everything so much more. You probably want to write right now don't you?
